Welcome to Herndon-Reston Youth Field Hockey!
Herndon-Reston Youth Field Hockey (HRYFH) serves as a player-centered youth development program. Through field hockey, we empower youth to use their imagination, creativity, and intuition to reach their cognitive, emotional, and physical potential. As a community-based, volunteer-run organization, we support the participation of all youth regardless of gender, skill-level, or financial means.

We LOVE Goalkeepers! (we need more)
Free Registration for Goalies
In an effort to increase the players that play the position, if you comit to the goalie position for the season, we will waive your registration fee, so you play for free. We provide the equipment. Goal Keepers are in high demand in the field hockey, so you will always be in demand, and it can even be a path to college. Contact Jeff or Amy to take advantage of this offer.
Dare to Differ!
Boys field hockey is growing
Boys' field hockey is growing, and HRYFH is looking for boys interested in learning and playing field hockey this fall. Participants will receive small-group instructions and be coached by a certified USA Field Hockey member. We welcome boys in grades 3rd through 8th and at any skill level. Players will attend clinics and can play in the Northern Virginia Field Hockey Alliance League if interested. Our goal is to eventually have a team that can compete in the NoVA Alliance League and other USA Field Hockey tournaments. Check out USA Field Hockey's "Dare to Differ!" video and join us this fall! New for Spring 2025: The concept of a HRYFH Select Team
We’re trying something new with some of the other clubs in our Alliance; We are testing the formation of a HRYFH select game team. Registered 7/8 grade players will be assigned to a team for the regular season, like we always have done. Any player that is interested can also try out to be added to the select game team. The select game team members will commit to playing with their normal assigned team on Saturday evening but also commit to play a second game with a mix of HRYFH 7/8 players that have made the select team. The idea is that our HRYFH select team will play a separate game against other select teams from Northern Virginia later the same Saturday evenings. The select team would not practice together, just play in an extra game together. Players interested will need to try out on April 5 or be invited by a coach and commit to being able to play two games an evening during the regular season. It is possible that the two games may not be back-to-back and have an hour or two in between so families will need to be aware before fully committing. -And if you can't make the tryout on April 5th, don't panic, just let your coach know or talk to Jeff or Amy.
